Fire can be described as any material’s rapid oxidation. The process is called combustion and it releases light, heat as well as other reaction products. This process only includes the rapid oxidation and not the slower ones. The visible portion of a fire is flame that consists of hot and glowing gases. The color of flame depends upon what is alight. The color will depend on any impurity around and the substance that is being burnt. This also determines the intensity of the fire.
If fire is given all the components that it requires, then it leads to a chain reaction and to put an end on the fire, one of the essential components need to be withdrawn. This can be done either by removing the source/material being burnt, using water to extinguish the fire, using chemical like Halon to the fire that hampers the rate of chain reaction so much so that it can not sustain and fire extinguishes. On the other hand, if the intensity of fire is to be increased, it would need catalysts.
For humans, fire is like a blessing. Everyday, we make use of fire in one or other form and most essentially for cooking purposes. Other uses include heating, warming as well as for commercial purposes. The control on fire was a breakthrough in the lives of humans and thus, it changed the cooking and other such things entirely. Now, we can not imagine our lives without fire or any source of cooking food.
